What is the didgeridoo?

The didgeridoo is a musical wind instrument, also known as a natural wooden trumpet or drone pipe. It originates from Northern Australia, where it was first used 1,500 years ago by the Aborigine people, for relaxation, ceremonial dancing and singing. Resembling a clarinet of sorts, the didgeridoo can be made out of bamboo, bark, and beeswax. Modern versions are made of PVC plastic piping and are now made in non-traditional designs.

How is the didgeridoo played?

A particular breathing method called circular breathing is used when playing the music instrument that is the didgeridoo. The player breathes into the didgeridoo mouthpiece like you would a trumpet, inhaling in through the nose while using the tongue and cheek to breathe air out through the mouth. Circular breathing allows the lungs to fill with air and it expands the tissue in the nasal passageways and throat as the sound resonates.

How does the didgeridoo help to stop snoring?

Some people who snore do so because the tissue at the back of their throats blocks the airflow to their trachea, which causes the snoring sound. This is why stop snoring treatment is so important. When blowing into the didgeridoo musical instrument, the tissue at the back of the throat resonates and allows circulation of air through the nasal passageways down the throat, via the trachea and respiratory organs into the lungs and back.
